Case Studies >> Linc Rises to an Olympic Challenge

Linc provided critical freight and logistics services to a large multinational manufacturer for the London 2012 Olympic Games.

The challenge was to move, store and distribute more than 5 million items over a 12-month period – in the most cost-effective and time-efficient manner.

Delivering the goods

Linc staff overseeing dispatch

Having overseen the dispatch, warehousing and consolidation of goods in China, Linc organised international freight transportation by sea and air to the UK – both cost effectively and on time. We then handled all of the documentation and customs formalities in both countries.

Once the stock had arrived in our main UK warehouse, it was reworked and labelled and, in most cases, available for delivery within 24 hours. This was due entirely to the speed and efficiency of the Linc team, aided by our state-of-the-art IT platforms.

Tracking the assets

Stock Control

Linc's web-based warehouse management system gave real-time visibility of stock and order flows, dispatch and delivery data – both in the UK and in China.

Our customer was able to track the movement of stock at any stage in the supply chain from China right the way through to the UK.

The customer was so impressed with the way in which Linc handled this complex logistical challenge that talks are already under way over the contract for Rio 2016.
